January Workparty

The clouds were heavy with the promise of rain and it didn't disappoint this time! Boy oh boy did it rain!
It let up for a short while and allowed people to braai on Friday night but it did not hold off for long. We all woke on Saturday morning and were greeted by good old fashioned warm heavy drizzly rain! Never the less the faithful Makanyane's gathered their tools and set off in the direction of Mankwe, Felo Garona and Fish Eagle with a few extra stop off's on the way. We attacked the damp over grown vegetation with Makanyane panache lol!! It was hard damp work but with lots of giggles and determination we got through it and made a dent!
Later that afternoon we headed back off to Manyane for a well-earned shower. Unfortunately the weather did not let up and after shielding the fire long enough to make dinner all that was left to do was have a cup of coffee and climb into bed. No highs and lows were done as the weather put a bit of a damper on the evening. 
My high hummm is probably seeing the Kori Bustard, we havent seen it in the park for ages!

December 2012 Workparty!

May all the sweet magic of Christmas conspire
to gladden your heart and fill every desire. 

Well its the last Makanyane group for 2012, how the year has flown!

This weekend we had some overseas visitors. It was lovely to have Aude, Xav, Olivia and Alix back with the Makanyanes!

We all woke up bright and early on Saturday and made our way up to Metswedi again to help clear up the elephants mess! It was good old hard work digging up all the weeds moving the broken branches it didn't seem to end but by the time we had finished we could pat ourselves on the back!! Working at Metswedi is always amazing and it never ceases to amaze me that we can work in such beautiful surrounding it always brings a smile to your face.

Later that day all hot, sweaty and tired we packed up and headed back to camp where the weather decided to give us a breather and treated us to a wonderful bush storm ahhh the relief!! It didn't last too long and quickly cleared up to give us a nice fresh evening which was good as Campbell and team were treating us all to an amazing Christmas bush dinner. If i say the smell was decadent you can guess how good the food was! Thank you so much to all that were involved in the cooking and creating! Bellies full and the fire roaring we all sat and spoke about the highs and lows and lots of giggles!

Thank you to everyone for such a wonderful weekend, what a way to end the Makanyane year.

I know i have put this entry on really late but we hope you all had a safe, wonderful blessed filled Christmas and New Year and we look forward to seeing you all soon in 2013!
