Welcome to the online Makanyane Barker!

We have changed it to be online so as that all the Makanyane's have the opportunity to share their stories, pictures, adventures, recipes and ideas with us all!

Enjoy and have fun!

The Makanyane Barker Team!

MAY'S MAKANYANE 2012

There was a small group this month, but wow what group! Ed, Jacquie & Wendy, Graham & Diane, Tom & Margaret, Wally & Vicki and Nando. Even though there was only a few of us we worked up a storm.

We were privileged to be able to work up at Metswedi, the elephants had done a really good job of walking through the electric fence and giving the camp a once over! Nando could not join us on the Friday but met us up at Metswedi early on the sat morning after having a nice Buffalo and Lion viewing!! The rest of us made our way joined by a beautiful sunrise. All together and armed with all our tools we cracked on Margaret and myself inspected one side of the fence until we were joined by a few lionesses we then swiftly moved on and joined the others to start work on the camp! Tom, Nando and rifle aided Robbie started weed eating and working around the fence while the rest of us tackled the broken trees the ele's had kindly left behind for us. It was hard work but when you get to work in such stunning surrounding its definately worth it!

That night around the fire in true Makanyane style we all had a chuckle while eating Diane's top chocolate brownies as we retold the adventures from that day from Nando's Buffalo's (lucky bugger) and the fact that I had to hold Margaret's hand for dutch courage when the lionesses said hello! (thanks Margaret!)

Thank you all for an awesome weekend!

Big hugs to all and until next time ......... Vicki xx

  2. Hey Guys,
It so good to read and look at the pictures of Makanyane, as always (thanks Vicky). It is a privilege to be the 2nd member after Aude & Xav, just like all times! :)
I love Matswedi, such a stunning place. Hope it will be put to good use again someday (e.g. Makanyane Campsite.....?). Are there any plans to re-launch the camp (with a different purpose obviously)?
Hope all of you are doing well? Take care!
